The Tennessee Volunteers look to upset the Midwest region’s number two seeded Ohio State Buckeyes in Friday, March 26, 2010 March Madness action.
The Buckeyes are 4.5-point NCAA Tournament odds favorites and the over/under is 134.
The Volunteers overcame a lot of obstacles to get to the Sweet 16. One of their best players, Tyler Smith, was dismissed from the team and a number of players were suspended in one notorious incident.
Despite all of the off-court drama, the Volunteers have come together as a team to play some pretty good ball.
Every player has had to step up their game at both ends of the court to keep this team competitive. This is most evident on defense as the Volunteers held their first two round opponents to under .382 shooting.
Tennessee rolled over Ohio 83-68 in the second round to validate their third Sweet 16 parking pass in the last four years.
JP Prince led the Vols with 18 points and Scotty Hopson added 17 while Brian Williams and Wayne Chism contributed 12 rebounds apiece.
Evan Turner led the Ohio State Buckeyes to third place in the Big Ten Conference and through the first two rounds of March Madness.
The Buckeyes finished off Georgia Tech 75-66 to earn their spot in the Sweet 16. Turner rebounded from a rough game in the first round with 29 points, nine assists and nine rebounds.
Turner is easily the biggest talent on the court, but the Buckeyes lack depth. The Volunteers will have a chance at the upset if they can find an answer for Turner.
