Butler Bulldogs vs. Syracuse Orange – Sweet 16 Betting Preview

The Butler Bulldogs look to upset the Syracuse Orange in the Sweet Sixteen round of March Madness on Thursday, March 25, 2010.

The Orange are 6-point March Madness odds favorites and the over/under is 138.5.

The Syracuse Orange are looking like a championship-caliber team after dismantling Vermont and Gonzaga. Vermont fell to the number one seed 79-56 in the first round while Gonzaga dropped 87-65 in the second round.

The Orange look like a number one seed and should be favored over the fifth-seeded Bulldogs.

Wesley Johnson has been leading the way for the Orange and he continues to cement his status as one of the elite players in NCAA basketball. His outside shooting is phenomenal and he has a post game to complement it.

Andy Rautins provides an additional outside threat that Butler will need to account for.

The Bulldogs booked their ticket to the Sweet Sixteen with a 54-52 victory over Murray State.

They don’t have nearly the talent that the Orange boast, but Head Coach Brad Stevens has them playing a really strong team game and they are good enough to be a dangerous opponent for anyone they face.

Lacking the talent and athleticism of Syracuse, the Bulldogs will be hard-pressed to pull off an upset. But, as we have already seen in this tournament, upsets happen.
