The Butler Bulldogs look to upset the Syracuse Orange in the Sweet Sixteen round of March Madness on Thursday, March 25, 2010.
The Orange are 6-point March Madness odds favorites and the over/under is 138.5.
The Syracuse Orange are looking like a championship-caliber team after dismantling Vermont and Gonzaga. Vermont fell to the number one seed 79-56 in the first round while Gonzaga dropped 87-65 in the second round.
The Orange look like a number one seed and should be favored over the fifth-seeded Bulldogs.
Wesley Johnson has been leading the way for the Orange and he continues to cement his status as one of the elite players in NCAA basketball. His outside shooting is phenomenal and he has a post game to complement it.
Andy Rautins provides an additional outside threat that Butler will need to account for.
The Bulldogs booked their ticket to the Sweet Sixteen with a 54-52 victory over Murray State.
They don’t have nearly the talent that the Orange boast, but Head Coach Brad Stevens has them playing a really strong team game and they are good enough to be a dangerous opponent for anyone they face.
Lacking the talent and athleticism of Syracuse, the Bulldogs will be hard-pressed to pull off an upset. But, as we have already seen in this tournament, upsets happen.

Hey dude, Ontario born here.. love the post!!! i’ve bookmarked your site so i can see future posts.. also, i write for Lions Den University Sports Section.. i’ve included a link with my comment..
Oh man, isn’t this why we tune into March Madness… we got upsets all over the place but in the West Bracket, Syracuse and Kansas State the number one and two seeds both were able to get to the sweet 16. To add to that Butler and Xavier got there and they are no team to take lightly. I am sure I am not the only one who waits all year to see basketball played at this caliber. Any team could honestly go on in this bracket to the Elite Eight.
If you are as confused as I am, and most people for that matter on who to take going into the Eight Eight and Final Four, you might want to check out this write up @ http://www.lionsdenu.com/march-madness-2010-sweet-16-west-bracket-syr-vs-but-xav-vs-ksu/ … it has full in depth write-ups on all sixteen teams as well as predictions for all eight games in the sweet sixteen round.
So who you got in the West Bracket? I have to take the favourites in Syracuse and Kansas State, they are simply playing the best basketball out of any team in the bracket… But anything is possible, especially this year!!!

I really like K-State right now. Like many teams, they have the talent to win. But I think it is their attitude/approach to each game that will be the difference.
